Activated carbon plant manufacturers and suppliers create a material of incredibly high industrial importance due to its remarkable adsorption properties. The first, two and complex steps, develop a material based on carbon rich raw materials such as biomass and coal. The first step of the process is the carbonization process where the feedstock is heated uniformly in an oxygen-free environment which results in a porous carbon char. 

Next, the lagoon char goes through physical activation, which involves a high-temperature treatment that uses oxidizing gases which essentially “etches” a multitude of micropores within the char’s structure of activated carbon. This new surface area allows the material to facilitate the removal and capture of contaminants, odors, and impurities in liquids and gases.
