Screw Conveyors are one of the most versatile types of machinery. In addition to conveying, they can be made to do many useful things; mix, cut, blend, feed, pump liquids and solids. Screw Conveyors consist of an auger running, with a small clearance, along a formed steel trough. The auger is fabricated with helical flights attached to a central pipe. The most common trough section is “U” shape although rectangular, tubular and troughs are also readily available. Screw conveyor components are standardized and in most cases, design of individual machine components is not required. Because of this standardization, screw conveyor machinery is inexpensive when compared to custom manufactured components.
